Sky Scraper Window Replacement, London
SHLG was contracted to carry out a specialist glazing panel replacement on the 5th floor of a commercial skyscraper located at 80 Cannon Street, in the heart of London’s financial district. This high-rise façade repair required a coordinated approach using both internal access and rope access techniques to ensure minimal disruption to building operations.
High-Rise Commercial Skyscraper Window Repair, London
Operatives transported all necessary equipment up to the 5th floor using the internal stairwell. Simultaneously, our IRATA Level 3 abseil technicians accessed the roof of the high-rise and securely rigged to the structural steelwork to allow safe and effective external access to the panel location.
The existing pressure plate was removed and safely stored for reinstallation. The damaged glazing panel was carefully extracted and conveyed to ground level for safe disposal, ensuring all procedures adhered to strict health and safety protocols. The aperture was prepared with new setting blocks and glass packers to accommodate the replacement.
A new glazing panel was brought up manually via the internal stairwell, cleaned, and inspected on-site to ensure it was free of any defects. Using a manual suction lifter, the unit was carefully positioned and installed into the façade aperture.
The original pressure plate was then reattached, followed by the installation of a new wedge gasket. To complete the installation, external re-pointing was carried out using black structural-grade silicone sealant to ensure a weather-tight and aesthetically consistent finish.

Completion & Handover
Following installation, the entire work area of the high-rise building was thoroughly cleaned. All access equipment and debris were removed, and the surrounding paved areas were swept and tidied. The work was reviewed and signed off by our site supervisor before being presented to the client, who was very pleased with the standard and efficiency of the works carried out.
